Centeron
Arkansas is a small town of approximately 2,500.
With a four-man police department, our resources are stretched
thin. In late 2000, we decided one of our most urgent needs was a
more proficient way to complete reports and keep track of how many
contacts the departments makes annually.
Having a limited budget required we decided to get the most bang
for the buck. After speaking with numerous surrounding departments it
became clear towns under 5,000 people were faced with similar this
challenge, using self generated forms.
We also learned no one in this position had a reliable search
mechanism. Sergeant Johnson having seen and used Xpediter Technology XPEDITER
in another agency contacted the company and received a demo disk.
The
department purchased the software in December 2000.
Very little training was required for personnel to start using the
program immediately.
Starting
with only 2001 contacts, we began seeing immediate results.
Officers were able to determine whom we were dealing with on a
continuous basis. Without the
XPEDITER software, communications between officers was difficult at best.
Now, each time information is entered the officer is notified that
someone else has dealt with this individual.
Case
in point: March 2001, Sgt. Johnson is notified of 2 male juveniles
attempting to break into two closed businesses.
Subjects failed however but were later located and identified.
Sgt. Johnson documented the incident in Xpediter. In June 2001,
Officer Baltrusch is notified of a juvenile attempting to steal a riding
lawn mower. Suspect was
identified but had witnesses that stated he was somewhere else at the
time. Again the incident was documented into Xpediter.
Finally on July 10th 2001, Officer Austin was called to a local
church where a male juvenile had just broken a window, entered the
building and stolen some items. A
suspect description and age was entered into the XPEDITER and a suspect
name was given. With this information we learned we had been dealing with
identical twin brothers. One
would cover for the other having an alibi, thus keeping us off track.
With the help of the XPEDITER we were able to take the evidence to
Juvenile Authorities and both boys were found guilty of the above crimes
and tied to a spree of bike thefts within the city.
I
highly recommend Xpediter Technology XPEDITER software, we're pleased and we
believe you will be too.
