  THE PROCESS

  1. Officers generate citations on computers in their squad cars.

  2. Nearly all ticket information is entered using simple pre-programmed "hotkeys" and drop-down lists. Minimal typing is required.

  3. Defendant and vehicle information is inserted automatically in the citation form by querying the Department of Motor Vehicles records or through the use of a magnetic stripe reader.

  4. Violations are selected from a table which includes the offense description along with the corresponding statute or ordinance numbers.

  5. Fine amounts appear automatically, along with the next available court date.
The printed citation is clear and easy to read and includes violation descriptions, fine amount, and a court date for the violator.

  6. The data captured at the violation site is transferred via radio wave to the ACS Server.

  7. An overnight batch process sends all citations issued that day to the court system's computer and to the Law Enforcement RMS.
